FASTPITCH HITTERS HOME TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
TEACH EACH STUDENT DIFFERENTLY
Some instructors believe that fastpitch hitting can be taught using an “off-the-shelf” or “one-size-fits all” method. In fact, such methods produce limited results. Over the years, we have come to understand that each student has specific talents and athletic abilities that can be used as cornerstones for teaching hitting. Although this website will use a base set of rules for hitting—rules that help the athlete find balance and consistency with her swing—it will not stress the one-way theory. However, we do stress that to be truly effective as an instructor, it is critical to allow the students to be individuals in the batter’s box. Celebrating individuality will allow them to use their strengths and develop their skills at a greater rate. This leads to overall success.

FROM RECREATIONAL LEVELTO GOLD LEVEL, TEACH EACH STUDENT TO REACH HER UNIQUE POTENTIAL
To be an effective instructor, one must also understand that not every student is an Olympic-level athlete. The instructor’s job is not to sell an idea of how good the instructor can make the student, but instead offer avenues for the student to improve and achieve her potential at whatever level that may be. We work with students at all levels. This site and the instruction documented here have been developed to help each student perform at the level at which she is currently playing without restricting her from advancing to a higher level of play.

NEVER COMPARE STUDENTS TO OTHER STUDENTS, OR TRY TO CLONE ANOTHER ATHLETE
It makes little sense to compare your student to an Olympic athlete or a pro baseball player. Instead of using a comparison of another, we use videos of the athlete’s successful swing. With this, we can achieve consistency and goals based on reality. If one can continue to improve using this method, then we can use another, even better, swing to set our goals. The key: constantly look for ways to set higher goals based on reality and references to the students’ hitting styles.

WHEN IT COMES TO HITTING, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BASEBALL AND FASTPITCH SOFTBALL
FastPitch Hitters Home teaches students to hit fastpitch softball. We teach these skills differently than we would teach a student to hit a baseball. Although the skills needed to be successful at both games are similar in outward appearance, they are very different in technique. The techniques used by our students have served us well over the years, and will continue to change with the game. These techniques have a proven track record of success at game time, and this is how you measure the effectiveness of any style of hitting.
